Felix Payne was not only one of the most prolific figures not only in the Kansas City underworld but
in America period. Coming to Kansas City at the turn of the century, Payne did everything from shining shoes to selling insurance policies, from running numbers to managing some of the hottest night spots the city has ever seen. His partnership with the Pendergast political machine
swung the black vote from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party and his legacy would leave Kansas City standing in the international spotlight for generations to come.
Erik has served as an educator, a case manager, a poet, and even a democratic committee man but his passion as always been history. He became sole proprietor of the Kansas City Tour Company and began conducting tours of the historic sites in the Kansas City area and creating interactive, historic slide show presentations that allow people to make the connections between past, present, and future through the lens of history.
