Charlotte Hill O’Neal aka Mama C is an internationally known visual artist, musician, performance artist and poet of more than three decades of experience. She was born in Kansas City, KS in 1951 and has lived in Tanzania, east Africa, with her husband Pete O’Neal, former Chairman of the Kansas City Chapter Black Panther Party and founder of United African Alliance Community Center UAACC. Her poetry and performing talents have been showcased on stage, television and radio in many cities in Africa and in America during the annual UAACC Heal the Community Tour. She was selected for the Poetry Africa tour in 2010 that took her to Cape Town, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Durban. She launched her book of poetry, Warrior Woman of Peace in 2008 and 2016 saw the launch of her latest book of poetry titled LIFE SLICES…A TASTE OF MAGIC!
Steve Penn, is a former award-winning columnist for the Kansas City Star, where he worked for 31 years and he's the author of Case For A Pardon: The Pete O'Neal Story. Penn first started speaking to Pete O’Neal back in 1987 when he was a reporter. Since then Penn has written extensively on O’Neal’s journey from a fiery militant leader of the Kansas City Chapter of the Black Panthers to a responsible village elder and owner of a thriving children’s home.
